Let It Go

Jacob had a dilemma. Years earlier, he had lost his favourite son Joseph and had never gotten over the loss. But he had to move on and live his life, which he tried to do. Then a famine came. He sent his sons to buy food from Egypt but they returned with horrible news. Not only had the Egyptian prime minister suspected then of being spies, he had also seized Simeon their brother and declared that he would only believe their claims of innocence if they came back with their youngest brother, Benjamin. Of course, Jacob wasn’t going to allow that. His favourite wife Rachael had only borne two sons- Joseph and Benjamin. Rachael was dead, Joseph was dead. He’d rather die than lose Benjamin too. But as the days wore on, he watched the food which his children and grandchildren ate diminish slowly and he wondered how long he could hold on. Would he hold everyone’s stomachs ransom because he did not want another broken heart? He had lost a wife and two children- but would the rest starv

Work And Pray

How would I feel if someone forcibly carried me away from my home to their country as a slave? Not happy is an understatement. Would I pray for them? Yes. That God would punish them. Would I pray for them to have peace and prosper? No. Definitely not! I haven't thought about the fact that should there be war or famine among them, I'd be affected because I live there too. And should things be good there, I'll enjoy (a little bit) because I'm there. But my beastly human nature says, "I don't care if I'm affected too. Let them suffer as they made me suffer". But how would it help me? Would suffering first in my homeland and later in my land of captivity help me? No. When the Israelites were carried away captive to Babylon, this is what God told them: "Work to see that the city where I sent you as exiles enjoys peace and prosperity. Pray to the LORD for it. For as it prospers you will prosper." (Her 29:7, NET). Now if God asked

Moses' Excuses

Moses will always be remembered as the great prophet who led the Israelites from slavery in Egypt to the promised land in Canaan. In fact, the Bible says there has never been any prophet like him with regards to fellowship with God and signs and wonders (Deuteronomy 34:10-12).  Yet when God called and commissioned him, Moses like most of us was very reluctant to go. After his failed attempt at helping his people and living as a shepherd for forty years, he certainly had lost his confidence and fire. These are the objections he tried to give God: 1. Who am I? (Exodus 3:11) 2. They will not believe me and will doubt that I really saw God. (Exodus 4:1) 3. I am not eloquent (Exodus 4:11) 4. Send someone else pleeeeaaassseeee. (Exodus 4:13) Nevertheless, God who had called and chosen him from his mother's womb was patient and persistent. He promised to be with Moses every step of the way and He will be with you too. After Moses had ex

Seeing Jesus

How will it be to see Jesus? His eyes are pools of love, I'm sure There are holes in His hands and feet Reminders of his great sacrifice Which He made while on the cross How will it be to see Jesus? To have my eyes opened to Him? I'm sure He'll be wearing a robe And be more beautiful than I can imagine Oh Jesus, sweet Jesus How will it be to see Jesus? Will He be shining like John saw?  What will He say unto me? Will I be able to respond? Oh Jesus, blessed Christ How will it be to see Jesus? To stretch forth my hands to meet His? I'm sure there'll be tears in my eyes I'll be dazzled and speechless with wonder And like Thomas, I know I'll say, "My Lord and my God!" 🦋Amesiamina

Faith

The Spider is dead The first star is fallen Gone are the cobwebs that had me cowering The crutches are broken The second star is fallen Somehow, I must move without falling The darkness has fled The third star is fallen I'll get used to the light that's so blinding Christ on the water calls The fourth star is fallen I have to walk on water without sinking Somehow I must pick up the pieces and move on I must walk on the water with Christ I'm walking on water I'm walking without crutches I'm flying without wings Christ is my light

Let In The Light

Imagine a room. A dark room. A cold dark room where the windows and door are tightly shut. Where you have to grope about to find your way cause your eyes can't get used to this darkness. You need light but the windows are barred shut. Maybe your life is as dark as this room and you're groping and stumbling, trying to find your way. Perhaps you're confused and you don't know what to do. You need clear, specific direction on what to do and where to go. So what do you do? Turn to the door. And open it. And let the light flood in. Let it bring freshness and warmth and clarity of vision. Let in the light of God's word to guide you and live a fulfilling life.  Psalm 119: 130  Your instructions are a doorway through which light shines. They give insight to the untrained

Stalker God?

One Sunday during a church Bible study on salvation, the Bible study leader spoke about the coming judgement and told us that God keeps a record of the things we do and we will be judged according to our works. Someone asked why God follows us recording everything we do to judge us on the last day when He Himself had said we're saved when we believe in Christ. The leader asked the congregation if any of us had an answer and I shared my opinion. I gave quite a lengthy explanation on the difference between the judgment of Christians and the judgment of the world, the various crowns and rewards that will be given on the last day, and the fact that our lives are an eternal record of the glory of God and an example to the world. Everyone seemed to like what I said and I was applauded. After church, one of the junior pastors told me that he liked my answer during the Bible study class and I left, feeling a warm glow inside. As I thought about it, my mind was opened and I underst

Laws of Leadership (Part 2)

1⃣A The Head of an Organization Must First Be Loyal To His Subordinates --------------💞----------------💞-------------- It is difficult and sometimes impossible to work under certain kinds of leadership. If you are a junior in a church or business and have a head who is uncaring, you will have a hard time. I would advise you to find the environment and leader under who you can flourish. Move away peacefully and do not say bad things on your way out. Close every door gently. You may need to come back through that door one day Source: Leaders and Loyalty By Bishop Dag Heward-Mills. ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖               - Amesiamina♡               (03/06/2017) ╚════                                ════╝

Laws of Leadership

1⃣   The head of an organization must first be loyal to his subordinates. Everything, good or bad, flows down from the top. Heads of organizations often want their subordinates to appreciate and honour them. However, this appreciation and honour must begin from the head downwards. Loyalty is like _the precious ointment UPON THE HEAD, that RAN DOWN upon the beard, even Aaron's beard, that WENT DOWN to the skirts of his garments._ (PS 133:2) It is the duty of the head of an organization (church or business) to make everyone feel important and appreciated. This is one of the most important ways to be loyal to the people who work for you. Hold On To God

The king was sick. He was 39 years old, he was rich and powerful, and he not yet had the son he desired so much. Yes, he was a good man but yes, he was going to die. He knew he would die because God said so. God had specifically sent a message asking him to get his house in order because he was going die. And as he looked before and behind him, at the life he had lived, the dreams he had dreamed, the children he thought he would have, thirty-nine years seemed too short. As he remembered his service and love for God and the greatness of God's mercy, King Hezekiah refused to give up. He went on his knees and prayed to God. God had passed his sentence and only God could revoke that sentence. He prayed, knowing that although he had done his best to serve God, ultimately, his life depended on God's mercy and only God could change things for him. And God heard him. And God answered. And God sent back the prophet Isaiah And God healed him. And God added fifteen more y

ANAS IS WATCHING !!!

A week ago, on my way home, I noticed some graffiti on a wall at Kanda. On a portion of the wall, someone had written in red paint, “ANAS IS WATCHING! DO THE RIGHT THING.” On both sides of the writing were drawings of what Ghanaians have come to associate with Anas – a face in a mask. As I observed this, I had to laugh because I realized Anas has become kind of God. There is no doubt that Anas Aremeyaw Anas, a well-known – yet unknown and mysterious undercover journalist has done a lot to uncover the rot and corruption in the Ghanaian society. The bribery scandal in the judiciary in particular generated lots of interest, talk, controversy and even fear in Ghana. Many public servants fear Anas more than they fear God. For them, the worst thing that happen is to be caught on Anas’ camera.  But while it is all very well to not want to be caught doing evil, most of us seem to be missing the point. We seem to have forgotten that someone bigger than Anas watches over us .

Are You Married Before You're Married

Are You Married Before You Are Married? ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ There is also a difference between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman cares about the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit. But she who is married cares about the things of the world—how she may please her husband. *[[1Corinthians 7:34]] WEB* This is what the Bible says.  You might be unmarried right now but is there someone who you mostly do things to please? Do you wear the clothes you wear to please that person or mostly to look good for that person? Do you constantly buy things you know the person would like, do things that will make the person happy or go to places because you know it would please that person? Do you find yourself, making the choices you make, even inconveniencing yourself just to please that person? Do you find yourself constantly thinking about how to please that person, even more than you think about making God happy? Do you think about the person more

Who Will Bell the Cat?

Some mice had a huge dilemma that caused them to hold a meeting. The agenda? A cat who constantly threatened their lives. At the meeting, the mice recited a long list of grievances. They resolved to put a bell around the cat's neck so that they could hear when he approached. They all rejoiced until a little mouse raised his hand and asked- "but who will bell the cat?"  A hush fell and till now, no one has belled the cat. Who will bell the cats in our lives? For a long time, humanity faced such a problem- the problem of sin and death. The Law pointed out the problem and said, "this is what you have to do to become righteous". But just as the mice could not bell the cat, the law didn't give man the ability to become righteous. For the law made nothing perfect. On the other hand a better hope is introduced, through which we draw near to God. Hebrews 7:19(NET) For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God send

That Dirty Rag

Would you pick your one cedi note if it fell into a gutter? Probably not.  Even if it was your last cedi? Most likely, you’d look at the gutter and the things floating in it, wrinkle your nose in disgust at the smell and let it go…even of it means you have to walk home. After all, even if you remove it, there’s nothing you can do to make it better. Surely, you might reconsider if it was your phone, purse or wallet, but not that that dirty rag. That dirty rag which was once a clean white handkerchief. That dirty rag which in its lifetime had been used to wipe sweat, water, dirt, blood, your shoes and other things until it could no longer be recognized as a handkerchief. That once-white handkerchief which had turned some unidentifiable colour which you kept at the side of your bag for wiping your shoes. Who would bend down to pick that not-too-valuable rag that had fallen into the disgusting, smelly gutter? Only Jesus would. Only Jesus would do something that people woul

Dumsor Reflections

It’s six pm. You’ve had a long and tiring day. You leave the lecture hall as fast as you can, thinking about taking a bath, eating and relaxing in your room. But immediately you get to your room, the lights go out. “Ohhh ECG!” You probably scream. But go out for a while. Do you see something? Have you noticed that the nights the lights are out, the lights of the moon and stars are more easily seen and are brighter and more beautiful? Have you ever paused to reflect on that? In this world, we’ve surrounded ourselves with so many things and put on our artificial lights so bright that they create a haze around us and the light of God is not able to shine as brightly as it should in our lives. All the activities we’re doing are good, but if in the end they don’t leave us with time to fellowship with God, then it’s all vanity. It’s good to give in to your cravings and pamper yourself once in a while but when the desires of the flesh don’t allow you to exercise self-control and hi

Jacob's Story

He was an old man.  Though he had lived a full life, he had his regrets and sorrows too. He had seen things and done things, had lived a rich and full life, but the sorrow of burying his beloved wife would never entirely leave him.  She had died young, dearly beloved, during childbirth. But at least the child had survived, and he loved the child fiercely, together with the first child his wife gave birth to. But the older son too was dead. He had been killed by a wild animal and all that was left of him was a blood stained coat he himself had made for the boy. The future looked bleak now. There was a drought and a severe famine.  No rain, no food. Just dust, and thirst and heat. What use was gold in such a time when there was no food to buy with the gold and they couldn't eat the gold too? But he had heard reports that there was food in Egypt. So he sent his other sons, ten of them and they had come back with plenty corn. But they return

A Reflection

Luke 12:22 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on 23 The life is more than meat and the body is more than raiment. I’ve come to see how true this is. We read the Bible and this scripture is so easy to quote. But what about doing it? Many of us are worried about what we’ll eat or what we’ll wear. Which hairstyle do we do next? Weave, clip-ins, wig or braids? Curly or straight? Long or short? Black, brown, red or gold? What about our nails? What colour do we paint them? Which shoes? Which lashes? Which makeup? Which phone, which tablet? Which laptop? Which car? Which flavour of  ice cream ? For many of us, our lives revolve around our bodies. Yet Jesus said life is more than food and the body more than clothing. Is it really true? The Apostle John said in 1 John 2:15, 16 15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the wo

Crab Tales

CRAB TALES On Saturday, I went to Dome market to buy food items. While there, I was assaulted by a variety of sounds and smells. One smell that dominated was the pungent smell of live crabs heaped up in a large bowl to be sold. They moved, crawled and heaved as each crab tried to move upwards, perhaps for some fresh air. As I walked on, I noticed a movement on the ground and saw one little crab scuttling along on the ground. It had managed to escape from the bowl and was now far from the crab seller, gleefully moving to a life of freedom -or so it thought. As I contemplated using my leg to shift it from the middle of the road to the side, one of the people who thronged the market bypassed me, stepped on the crab and moved on, unaware that they had brought the crab’s world crashing down. source: tpsdave https://pixabay.com/en/crab-beach-sand-macro-closeup-1990198/ The crab was hurt but not dead. As I gently pushed it to the side I learnt a lesson. Like the cr
Hi everyone! How did you celebrate the Easter? Mine was full of sleeping and meditation. Thank God for the great love with which He loved us. Here's an Easter poem to keep you going. A Helpless God? He walked on this earth in great power He healed the sick, raised the dead Above normal mortals, He seemed to tower He spoke with authority And taught the people Shocked and amazed every entity The crowds followed Him, curious To see miracles and eat bread For to them, His claims were really spurious Frowning, they tugged their turbans The Pharisees sought to kill Him For His fame had gone rural and urban Yet He seemed unkillable Yet He was untouchable This Son of man, so irresistible But at the moment of reckoning, His "luck" wasn't endless And so it seemed, That for a moment, God was helpless He who had walked in power Now unable to move a finger His disciples began to cower The people mocked, the women w

muse of a mouse

Sometimes, when i think about the greatness of God and imagine myself standing before Him in His majestic holiness, I feel as small as a mouse. Lol. I don't know if others also experience this, but this is a poem a wrote sometime back about that feeling. MUSE OF A MOUSE Coming full circle From light to darkness And darkness back to light The mouse finds herself in pristine white light Groping for a cover Scrambling for the shadows Trying to hide From the light of the Almighty But alas, in this place no darkness dwells God is light in whom there is no darkness Nor shadow of turning Realizing that she has nowhere to hide The mouse coils herself up Whiskers nervously twitching Hiding her unworthiness and shame From the eyes of the Almighty Was not this the moment she had desired? Was not this the longing of lifetime? To stand in the presence of the Almighty And walk in His pristine white palace? But standing before His Majestic Holiness All she kn
